Who would have thought, even five years ago, how online dating sites have become mainstream in people’s thinking today.  Five years ago most people registered with online dating sites would barely admit they had done do, wary of making fools of themselves to their friends and peers.  These days, online dating has been completely accepted and have branched out to cater for people with special needs, an example being those with disabilities.

Not only can money be stolen but these victims can suffer physical attacks and sex crimes.  They can get into this position by being attracted to images of beautiful people – which are fake.

Reputable online disabled dating sites (any dating site for that matter) warn against providing personal details to people they don’t know or posting it publicly.  Also, mechanisms are usually in place to to work with the site in taking legal action against the perpetrator.

3  It’s just not individual scammers that are the problem here.  Entire websites can be set up to scam money out of people.  Sometimes users are hit with a large bill from so-called free dating sites that end up charging for every service provided, without their prior knowledge or permission.  Watch out for those pop-up ads with European, Eastern and Asian women.  Most often they do not exist and but still entice people to join these scam sites.

4 Don’t be concerned if the person you are making contact with is not disabled. Some of these people are seeking someone they are compatible with and nothing more.  People do not have to be disabled to fall in love with someone who is.

5 Tend to be open about yourself and allow others to come to you. Don’t worry too much about rejection – this happens to anybody, disabled or not – though a disabled person may feel this more keenly because in many ways they have had to bear more frustration and disappointments than the average Joe or Jill.

6 Big trees from little acorns grow so bear this in mind in sending a small message in the first instance.  Small talk can grow into something big.  Don’t forget that people registered on reputable dating sites are wanting to meet their match so they will appreciate you sending a message.

7 Don’t just limit yourself to thinking that your disability is the main criterion by which others will decide whether to communicate with you or not.  Ideology, religion, mentality and many other specifications may play a more important role here.

In conclusion, regard disabled dating just like normal dating and your opportunities for finding your perfect match are much improved.
