Online Dating – Your Profile Name
When you sign up at an online dating site the first thing you’re going to have to consider is your profile name. Your profile name should be attention grabbing, descriptive and concise. It should reflect something about your occupation or personality.
Now some occupations will work better than others. If you are a Marine or ex-Marine then MarineFromTucson is a good name. Many women are drawn to guys who serve their country. You are saying what you do (or did) and what city you live in. However, DataClerkFromTucson just doesn’t quite cut the mustard does it?
Being a data clerk is a worthy occupation in this computer age, but it’s still not really considered exciting and interesting. In this scenario you’d be better off using a great physical or personality characteristic. Perhaps something like, SmilingBritFromTucson may do wonders. With this screen profile name you may generate interest from women who like British men and who don’t take themselves too seriously.
A good idea is to take a look at other member’s profile names, find one that appeals to you and adapt it to yourself. Avoid obvious cliches like “RaunchRod” “StudDude”, “HornyHoney” “SexyGirl” “LonelyGirl” “BuffMaster” and suchlike. To grasp what I mean here look through some profiles on reputable sites such as eHarmony, World Dating Partners, FriendFinder and Plenty Of Fish and you will see what I mean. These sites contain data-bases of millions of spam free profiles.
Many people don’t believe that a profile or screen name is important – but it really is. Your profile name, a thumbnail picture and your tagline all combine to give your first impression to other members. Once made, this impression must be built upon, you can’t go back and change it. So be truthful. If you are a marine or an ex-marine then make sure that that is the truth. You must do your very best to make as much of an impact with your first impression as you possibly can, without deceiving anyone.
