safety of Online dating, long term?

Posted August 14th, 2011 by admin and filed in Q & A Online Dating Safety

I met this guy online a few months ago weve spoken on webcam so I know what he’s like and were hoping to meet real in the next few weeks, he is from Europe so it’s made more difficult by the distance, Im 16 and he’s 38. DON’T focus on the age gap.. my question is I’ve seen stories about people meeting online and they can go out for years then like one of them could turn out to be a murderer or something. I wanted to know How can I ensure a situation like this doesn’t arise. When we meet for first im taking a friend and doing it all real safe but im talking long term how can I be safe? thanks for reading and hopefully commenting :) Xx

What is the best way to step back into the dating pool?

Posted August 13th, 2011 by admin and filed in Q & A Online Dating Safety

I’ve been separated for 9 months, with no hope for a reconcilation & I’m ready to start dating but I’m unsure how.

I’ve gone online to various communities but men seem so false and grimy. Plus I’m worried about safety issues. I’m a single mother & I don’t have a lot of time.

This is the first time I’ve been single in about six years so I am extremely rusty. But I’m ready, if you know what I mean because it’s been nine months. Help!

Is dating a firefighter worth the worry about his safety?

Posted August 12th, 2011 by admin and filed in Q & A Online Dating Safety

I have been "talking" to a firefighter…he’s wonderful and sweet and I really would like to date him. But I am afraid that his job could be very stressful on our relationship. I realize that we all run a risk of dying everyday but his job makes him much more susceptible to harm. I’d really appreciate some advice from those with experience dating/married to people in high risk jobs.

Is that cell phone/Ipod really more important than your date’s safety?

Posted August 10th, 2011 by admin and filed in Q & A Online Dating Safety

People seem to walk or drive around in a fog these days; they don’t pay attention to how they drive, where they walk or how loud or annoying they are to other people when on that damned cell or headset!

Safety in online dating?

Posted August 8th, 2011 by admin and filed in Q & A Online Dating Safety

Any tips for a safe and fun online dating experience? I’m not really a "let’s send messages forever" type of person. I’d rather give my email or talk on the phone or meet up with people I might be interested in, but how can I be sure it’s safe? Any warning signs to look out for?

When are the Safety Auto Inspections for NJ supposed to end exactly?

Posted August 7th, 2011 by admin and filed in Q & A Online Dating Safety

I know NJ plans to remove the "safety" inspection requirement and only do the emissions testing for Auto inspections. At first they were supposed to end them starting July 1, 2010, but I heard there is some kind of delay. My car is due for inspection in July, but I’m hoping to hold off a little bit so I only have to deal with the emissions testing. If anyone knows the exact date the safety inspections will be eliminated, please let me know. Thanks

long distant online dating?

Posted August 7th, 2011 by admin and filed in Q & A Online Dating Safety

I met this great guy online. Problem is that he lives in another country. We really click and we can talk about everything but its only been a couple of weeks. We talk for hours a day. When do u actually meet the person? How do you go about it the right way (safely) for a person in their 20s? He offered to pay for the ticket to visit him. The problem is that I am at school this fall and next spring so the time to see each other is this summer or next summer. btw-I have looked around my area but its so hard to find someone that flows so well with me. We really click.
He has facebook and many same age friends that appear to be our age.We are going to webchat too.

Internet dating- first date advice and safety concerns?

Posted August 6th, 2011 by admin and filed in Q & A Online Dating Safety

Tommorrow is my first date at Macaroni grill for lunch with a guy I met online via yahoo.personals. I have never done online dating and this is my first time to meet a person that I talked to online. I have only briefly talked to this guy and am scared to meet him. he claims he is a 36 year old pastor but I am worried that he is not a pastor. the thing is a friend of mine met someone online and was murdered. the person he thought he had been talking to turned out to be male rather than female and murdered him. I am so scared about meeting this pastor tommorrow. I keep thinking that perhaps he is a nice normal person who just wants to meet a nice girl. how can i make sure I am safe? What can I talk to him about? How can I find out what his real name is (not sure if chris is his real name) and what he really does for a living and if he has ever been married before without offending him? Please help me.
Thanks for the advice. The guy was so weird. He made a report card DURING the date and graded me on my appearance and personality. He also asked weird questions like "why should I date you?". that was my first and last internet dating experience. He was a weirdo.

Thoughts about online dating sites and safety…?

Posted August 6th, 2011 by admin and filed in Q & A Online Dating Safety

I live in the US and have been on Match.com for a little while now. I have talked online briefly to a guy from the UK. We are clearly both intrigued by one another. He says he doubts we will ever meet, but has asked me for my phone number and has expressed interest in having a conversation via that medium. I have always been leery about online dating. Is it safe to simply give this guy my phone number?

A smart approach to online dating?

Posted August 6th, 2011 by admin and filed in Q & A Online Dating Safety

I’m in college, an athlete, I’m not particularily good in school and I get good grades because I spend so much time studying and with tutoring. I don’t care to drink because of the health affects and since I’m an athlete it does more harm, I don’t hang out with the partier crowd, I generally don’t want to meet up with those drunk college guys at the parties. I’ve been set up with guys by friends, and they usually don’t work out. Nice guys, just not for a relationship. Honestly, I’m more focused on my sport and school work I’m not out looking to meet someone. Flirting’s not my strong point. I have alot of guy friends, but they are just that; friends. I never wanted to use a dating site, but I’ve been thinking of ways to do this effectively and safely.

The one thing that appeals to me is being able to see their interests. My blind dates have been nice, but we’ve been quite opposite. With online profiles, you can read from the guy himself what he’s interested in and go from there.
This is a small enough campus and town if I find a guy’s profile that goes to my college, I can probably figure out who he is. I don’t mean to sound stalkerish, but if he says he’s in a certain school club, particular major with classes, or works at a certain place, I can find him on something like Facebook to make sure he matches his online profile and this person does exist, not just a creeper’s alias. This is another way to safeguard the dangers of randomly meeting people you don’t know. I wouldn’t contact them about dating through these sites. This is my so called background check.

I wish I’d meet someone the old fashioned way, but with my circumstances it makes it a bit more difficult. And I do feel like I’m missing out in my younger years by not dating. Does this sound like a rational reasoning and safe way to approach the online dating world?

I want to make friends from different countries safely online. Does anyone have advice?

Posted August 5th, 2011 by admin and filed in Q & A Online Dating Safety

I am NOT looking for a dating site or anything similar to that. So please be respectful. Don’t give answers or links that are meant for people who are looking for that. Thank you.

When can I "safely" start dating? Legally AND morally.?

Posted August 5th, 2011 by admin and filed in Q & A Online Dating Safety

My wife and I have been physically separated for over a year, but have not divorced out of a combination of money shortage, and the sheer unpleasantness of it that goes along with it. It will be amicable, no custody or property issues except for splitting sale of house. She’s in another state, Oklahoma, I, Louisiana. Not to mention the annoyance of trying to date, but a woman thinking "Oh, but he’s still married…" understandable, but there is no intention of reuniting. Suggestions??

In online dating, how soon do you talk on the phone?

Posted August 4th, 2011 by admin and filed in Q & A Online Dating Safety

Hi, I met a man online and we have gone back and forth over about 4 short emails…in his last email he said "wanna talk on the phone?" Hmmmm, I am not sure if I want to give him my number this soon, but, perhaps I am being too prude? How can I handle this without offending him? Or, is there a way to share a phone conversation safely at this point in the game? Thanks for your answers.
